Get set for the Silver Jubilee SJOBA Thunderbolt Rally 2012

It’s the time of the year for which we all have been waiting, and guess what it’s the 25th year of the SJOBA Thunderbolt Rally.

The Extreme Rally will be open to jeeps/cars/bikes with the participants being required to cover approximately 300 kms over 3 days. The rally being extra special this year, so we thought of making it more challenging and more over FAST, pushing the drivers skills to the test.

The TSD this year is going to be a rollercoaster ride for the novice and amateur participants. A special treat for all the off roaders for sure.

As always, the  4W/2W/TSD Rallies would be running concurrently. The tentative schedule is as follows:

Time: Friday, March 23, 2012 at 9:00am - March 25, 2011, at 6:00pm
Entries open – Monday, 20 February, 2012
Closing Date for Standard Entries – Wednesday , 14 March, 2012
Closing of late entries – Monday, 19 March, 2012
Scrutiny and SSS – 23rd  March

Leg 1 (Chandigarh to Shimla) - 24 March, 2012
Leg 2 (Shimla to Chandigarh) - 25 March, 2012
Prize Distribution and Dinner - 26 March, 2012

SJOBA RALLY 2011 - Suresh Rana and Ashwin Naik zip to victory

The pair of Suresh Rana and Ashwin Naik sped to victory in the Jeep category that concluded at St John's School, Sector 26, Chandigarh, on March 27, 2011.

The team of Mandeep Singh and Honey Narula clinched the second position, while Harpreet Bawa and Virender Kashyap occupied the third spot. 
The team trophy went to the Thunderbolt team, while the Indian Army team were declared the runners-up. 
In the cars category, the team of Udaibir Sangha and Jasmohan Singh grabbed the top spot for the second time in the row. The teams of Dhirender Kumar and Anish Agarwal came second, while the third position was occupied by the team of Udaibir Sidhu and Tushar Marwaha.
In the bikes category, Mohit Verma came first, while Saajanpreet Singh came second. The third slot was occupied by Gagandeep Rekhi. In the bikes group `D' category, Arun Mehta came first. Puran Singh Bisht and Baljeet Singh came second and third, respectively.
The winners were presented trophies and cash prizes amounting to Rs 1,80,000 at a prize distribution ceremony held at Rock Garden on March 28.
